yogi medicineman asif ullah

yogi medicineman asif ullah is a writer, yogi, teacher, and modern-day ancient medicine man working in the poetic tradition of his grandfathers. In Bengali, kabi-raj—literally “poet king”—is a traditional word for a medicine man. He has come to understand this to mean a poetic relationship between the story of our body, the stories we tell ourselves, and the narrative of nature and the cosmos.

He is part of the core faculty at Kripalu Center for Yoga. There he teaches and mentors students and yoga teachers, leads workshops and retreats in yoga, creative writing, and herbalism, and conducts Ayurvedic treatments and consultations.

Makaya (aka Rev Love)

Makaya (aka Rev Love) is a yogi, musician and revolutionary who aims to use yoga and music to revolutionize the worlds within and without. She is a 300-hour certified Jivamukti instructor, and she also completed a 200-hour Trauma Informed Yoga certification, two Sound Healing Certifications, and a Qigong certification. She teaches at Jivamukti Yoga Brooklyn, as well as to incarcerated individuals on Rikers Island, and she is the resident yoga instructor for Burgundy Roots Retreats.

For years she struggled to resolve being a yogi and being Muslim, but the deeper her studies took her, the more she realized there are no contradictions, and both practices can complement each other beautifully to find peace and harmony, closeness to God, and become a better human for the benefit of all beings everywhere.
